New Initiative Focuses On The Collaboration Between Real Estate Owners And Tenant Energy Engagement, In The Face Of The NY Climate Mobilization Act
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has named Prescriptive Data as a qualified vendor for the authority’s new Real-Time Energy Management + Tenants (RTEM + Tenants) program.
Based in Manhattan, Prescriptive Data is a privately held, smart-building technology company focused on the use of artificial intelligence to optimize tenant comfort and decrease carbon emissions. Prescriptive Data is the developer of Nantum OS, a smart building operating system that extracts and consolidates live data from building systems, external data providers, and from third-party Internet of Things (IoT) solutions into a secure cloud environment.
As a $25-million incentive program, NYSERDA’s RTEM + Tenants’ initiative is designed to promote the comprehensive monitoring and management of commercial office buildings’ energy, electricity demand, and carbon footprint.
“NYSERDA deserves praise for incentivizing commercial property owners to gain easier access to the most-advanced technologies available for managing energy consumption and limiting greenhouse gas emissions,” said Sonu Panda, CEO of Prescriptive Data. “Prescriptive Data is gratified to have been named to join an elite class of vendors specially qualified to equip owners with the best-available tools for optimum energy management in multi tenant buildings.”
The NYSERDA initiative emphasizes the critical role that commercial office tenants can play in achieving lasting reductions in a building’s overall demand, energy intensity, and carbon footprint. The physical scope of the energy management strategy encompasses a property’s core building areas, its shared common spaces, and its tenant spaces.
A RTEM system helps building owners learn how their property is performing in real-time, detect equipment faults, and uncover opportunities to optimize energy use.
RTEM systems collect and monitor building system performance data in real-time. By connecting to a new or existing building and energy monitoring system, RTEM platforms pull data from a network consisting of meters, sensors, and controls. Data is then delivered to a central location analyzed in the cloud, identifying optimization opportunities that can significantly reduce energy expenditure.
The RTEM + Tenant Program provides cost-sharing of up to 33% for RTEM system implementation and services for up to three years. Office buildings must include multiple tenants. The RTEM system must monitor at least 75% of a property’s total energy consumption, including tenant loads, as well as a robust tenant engagement plan.
According to NYSERDA, the authority “qualifies vendors who are experts in delivering the highest-quality RTEM service for commercial office spaces. Our partnered vendors offer advice and support throughout the project—from installation to continued monitoring and optimization.”
NYSERDA enumerates five ways that property owners benefit from the use of an RTEM system:
- First, the system boosts a property’s bottom line with reduced energy costs, freeing up capital to use elsewhere.
- Second, RTEM provides real-time visibility into a property’s current and historical energy performance.
- Third, the system improves the reliability and uptime of systems with automated predictive capabilities.
- Fourth, this approach preserves staff experience and knowledge for the next generation of building leaders.
- And fifth, RTEM frees building operators from routine monitoring tasks and allows them to focus on issues affecting tenant satisfaction.
