Portland, OR (PRWEB) January 08, 2013
Consisting of six colorful suites illustrating (s)ort, (s)et in order, (s)hine, (s)tandardize, (s)ustain and a sixth for (s)afety, viewers will appreciate the simplicity, clarity and personality this industrial subject is given by graphic artist Angelique Sanders.
Incorporating appealing characters, realistic textures, and 5S-appropriate props, Sanders makes each suite come alive with a 3D look. Originally designed as a poster, the infographic is visually impactful, engaging and friendly a refreshing approach to a topic that has been the subject of many technical articles.
Sanders work brings to six the number of safety infographics created by Graphic Products, Inc., whose thermal transfer printers and industrial printing supplies are used in safety communications and lean manufacturing. The other five include: OSHA Worker Safety, Deadliest & Safest Cities for Workers, Arc Flash Boundary and Globally Harmonized System of Chemical Labeling (GHS) and ANSI/ASME A13.1 Pipe Marking -- all created by graphic designer Joe Hanson. The company has developed an expansive catalog of content designed to influence safety behavior.
Lean manufacturing and 5S are closely aligned in the manufacturing world, said Steve Stephenson, Chief Marketing Officer, Graphic Products, Inc. The goal is to reduce material waste, reduce the number of steps needed to perform a job, know where to find tools, track the number of units in production and know who is covering every shift and every task. Well continue to explore new mediums to communicate these messages.
5S steps offer a basic, fundamental, systematic approach for productivity, quality and safety improvement for all types of industries. 5S programs focus on visual order, organization, cleanliness and standardization. Companies that implement 5S practices should expect improved profitability, efficiency, service and safety.
Over the past two years, Graphic Products, Inc. has grown its visual communications library to include:
- Pipe marking, mining and arc flash webinars
- Short, instructional videos about cable and wire marking, applying labels to oily surfaces and creating wayfinding labels
- 5S System Guide and 5S Standard Color Guide
