Hands-On With The Nexus 9 Tablet

by Clip Syndicate

According to TechCrunch reviewers, Google's new Nexus 9, in a nutshell, is big, and it’s beautiful. Like the jump from Nexus 5 to Nexus 6, there’s a pretty huge spike in quality and build feel from the Nexus 7 to the Nexus 9. The Nexus 9 is expected to cost $100 more than the Nexus 7--$300 vs. $200, and it certainly feels like a pricier device.

Hands-On With The Nexus 6 And Android Lollipop

Smack dab in the middle of last week, Google announced two shiny bits of newness: the Nexus 6 phone, and the Nexus 9 tablet. Alas, both announcements came by way of blog post, rather than the standard fanfare-filled physical event — meaning no one actually got to touch the devices. But according to Tech Crunch's Greg Kumparak and Kyle Russell, these things are gorgeous.

The IPad's Glory Days Are Over. Where Does It Go Now?

Apple reported its fiscal 2014 fourth quarter results on Monday, and in a surprise to absolutely no one, iPad sales are down again. For the third consecutive quarter, iPad sales have declined year-over-year. On a call with analysts, Apple CEO Tim Cook positioned the decline in sales as a speed bump, not a huge issue. Still, Cook conceded that this isn't where Apple wants to be. Cook said, "We want to grow. We don't like negative numbers on these things." That need for future growth is probably one of the reasons Apple realigned its iPad offerings last week.

Apple Addresses ICloud Attacks While China Denies Hacking Allegations

Without saying much, Apple appears to have sent a clear message to hackers: stop messing around with iCloud users in China. On Monday, a group that monitors online censorship in China accused the People's Republic of intercepting traffic between local users and iCloud.com in an attempt to steal their passwords. In a so-called man-in-the-middle attack, the Chinese government allegedly hijacked virtually all connections to iCloud.com from inside the country using a fake certificate. A day later, Apple appears to have thwarted the operation with a technical fix, though the company has neither mentioned China specifically, nor confirmed whether the change was a direct response to the attacks. But the company also put out a new support page that says it's aware of "intermittent organized network attacks," and warns users not to enter their iCloud username and passwords if they see a warning for an invalid digital certificate. The Chinese government has categorically denied any involvement in the hacking scandal.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Addresses The IPad’s Continued Lack Of Sales Growth

During today’s earnings call for Apple’s fiscal Q4 2014, CEO Tim Cook took time to address the iPad’s performance at length. Cook referred to a lot of the general kinds of negative feeling around iPad performance circulating around media and analysts, and brought up his own perspective on the product category.
