Apple Maps, ITunes Radio Flourish Despite Critics

Apple’s two big efforts to push aside some of the most popular mobile apps in maps and music have taken a drubbing from critics, but new data from Comscore show just how successful they’ve been. More than 42 million people used Apple Maps in the three months ended in June, compared to 64 million using Google. Bond Hearing Set For Accused Tulsa Officer

A veteran Tulsa police officer, charged in the off-duty fatal shooting of his daughter's boyfriend earlier this month, is set to ask a judge that he be released on bond. Court records indicate attorneys for Shannon Kepler are scheduled to ask a district judge Friday to set bond, saying Kepler is not a flight risk. Kepler pleaded not guilty earlier this week in the Aug. 5th shooting death of 19-year-old Jeremey Lake. Kepler's attorney, Richard O'Carroll, said earlier this week that there isn't one credible witness to the event.

Sprint, T-Mobile Offer Further Price Discounts

Sprint unveiled a plan on Thursday that gives subscribers access to unlimited data for $60 a month, the industry's cheapest unlimited data offering as the carrier attempts to reverse the decline in its subscriber base. Wireless carriers have been going after each others' subscribers as they try to increase revenue in a nearly saturated market. Sprint's new offerings are $20 cheaper than T-Mobile's unlimited plan and are available to new and existing customers who bring in their own cellphone or pay full price for a new one.

Yahoo does not have a traffic problem. Neither does Tumblr . Yahoo does have an ad problem, though — and it's not clear whether Tumblr can do much to fix that. Those are the takeaways from a new report from eMarketer in its first forecast of Tumblr's users and advertising prospects. Martin Utreras, senior forecasting analyst at eMarketer, wrote in the press release, because Tumblr's user base is not directly correlated with ad views, slowing growth is not a bell tolling for Yahoo's demise.
