SK Hynix Third-quarter Profit At Record High On Firm Chip Demand

SK Hynix Inc, the world's second-biggest memory chip maker, reported record quarterly profit for the July-September period as the launch of new smartphones and steady demand from the personal computer sector boosted earnings. Microsoft Looks Set To Drop Nokia Name From Phones

Microsoft is looking to ditch the Nokia name from its Lumia range of smartphones just months after buying the Finnish company's handset business. According to a post on Nokia France's Facebook page on Tuesday, the page will change its name to Microsoft Lumia "in the coming days." Under the terms of the $7.2 billion deal, which was struck in September 2013 and completed in April, Microsoft acquired Nokia's handset business, though not the name of the company itself.

Google Is Making Some More Noise About Google Wallet

Now that Apple Pay is here, you'll soon be hearing more about Google Wallet. Apple has garnered a great deal of attention this week for introducing Apple Pay, but Google Wallet, another NFC-based solution, has on the market for three years. According to Google's director of marketing for commerce Sherice Torres, Google is planning a couple of ad campaigns in the fourth quarter for its mobile payment system. It's still unclear whether the plan will include TV. Google has advertised Wallet previously; an inaugural ad from 2011 featured Seinfeld 's George Costanza and his overstuffed wallet.
